On 18 June 2026, the YMCA for Northern Development Foundation, in collaboration with San Pa Tong Wittayakom School and Wiang Tha Kan Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ban Klang Subdistrict, San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province, organized the “Green Community Leaders” training under the Low Carbon Community Project for 50 residents of Moo 8, Ban Mai Sam Lang. The training was held at the meeting room of Wiang Tha Kan Subdistrict Administrative Organization.

The training aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge, understanding, and capacity to take part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while promoting behavioral changes in energy use and environmental management at the community level. These efforts contribute to reducing environmental impacts and addressing climate change in a sustainable way.

The activity was supported by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), which provided trainers from the Community and Social Attitude Development Section to share knowledge on safe and efficient electricity use. The trainers also organized interactive and engaging activities that encouraged participants to take part actively and gain positive learning experiences.

In addition, trainers from the YMCA for Northern Development Foundation provided knowledge on effective waste management, focusing on waste reduction, waste segregation, and appropriate waste management practices. The training aimed to promote a better environment, cleaner air, and the well-being of people in the community. This activity was another important step in building environmental knowledge and awareness among community members, while encouraging their active participation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and conserving natural resources. It represents an approach toward developing a livable, environmentally friendly, and sustainable community.
